Fares for domestic flights increased: report

‘The return ticket of Karachi-Islamabad flight is being sold at around Rs63,000’

The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and other private airlines have raised their fares for domestic passengers, a private media house reported on Thursday.

With the latest increase, the return ticket of Karachi-Islamabad flight is being sold at around Rs63,000.

PIA is charging Rs31,540 for Karachi to Islamabad-bound passengers while Karachi to Lahore-bound passengers are being charged Rs31,000 for a one-way flight.

It is pertinent to mention that Rs63,000 or more were being charged from the passengers traveling abroad, but owing to the recent hike, even domestic passengers are compelled to pay heavy fares.

On May 29, PIA and other private airlines had increased their fares after the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) had increased the fuel prices following a sharp increase in the international market.

It was noted that the increase in fares ahead of Eid caused difficulties to the people.
