‘Pakistan to highlight energy-related opportunities in Japan conference’

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan would highlight the investment opportunities in its energy sector during the upcoming conference in Japan, scheduled to be held from Sept 24th to 26th, as the sector was flourishing in the right direction owing to the prudent policies of the government.

This was stated by Power Minister Omar Ayub Khan in a meeting with Japanese Ambassador Kuninori Matsuda on Tuesday.

“Keeping in view the interest shown by the Japanese investors and companies in the energy sector of Pakistan, I will personally lead the Pakistani delegation at the conference,” he stated. ”

The minister said a new ‘renewable energy policy’, envisaging ambitious increase in the share of indigenous renewable sources by 2030, was in the pipeline, adding that the policy would open further vistas of investment in the sector with a good rate of return.

The Japanese envoy on the occasion thanked the minister for his personal interest and said that Japanese companies were anxiously waiting for his visit. He said that there was a good indication that investors would explore these opportunities.
