220 Pakistani manufactures to participate in 50th ‘Heimtextil’ exhibition

Around 3,000 exhibitors from across the world will take part in the exhibition, which will commence from Jan 7 in Frankfurt

ISLAMABAD: Heimtextil, the world’s leading trade show exhibition for home textile, is celebrating its 50th anniversary from 7th – 10th January 2020 in Frankfurt, Germany. Around 3,000 exhibitors, including 220 Pakistani manufactures, would participate in the four-day fair.

Pakistan was the 4th largest international exhibitor at Heimtextil and the 5th largest international visitor country in 2019.

According to Messe Frankfurt SP Pakistan, the number of Pakistani exhibitors at Heimtextil has grown over the past few years which has resulted in the growth of Pakistan’s home textile.

Heimtetxil provides an important platform for engagement and interaction with a number of buyers from all around the world in one place. Messe Frankfurt SP Pakistan, under its CSR programme, has been working with young designers since 2011, when it first sponsored students from Indus Valley.

“Three students who won the design contest were provided with airline tickets and hotel stay to visit Heimtextil. Since then, it’s an annual event which has resulted in over 100 young designers attending Heimtextil on a yearly basis. These young designers then start to work in the Pakistani industry which helps our exhibitors learn about design and trend. This year, three students of Indus Valley have won the ‘New and Next’ student competition and they have been given opportunity to present their work at Heimtextil 2020,” the statement issued by Messe Frankfurt SP Pakistan read.

The three shortlisted students – Hibba Saqib, Insia Aamir and Safa Amin – have worked on projects highlighting sustainability and how to use recycled products in the textile industry. They have also worked on various projects using natural spices, recycled flowers, recycled plastic to create various products which can also be commercially produced. These three students will be given a fully decorated booth in the Textile Design area of 3.0.

“The winning students will also be given sponsorships from Messe Frankfurt SP Pakistan, and the delegating of students and faculty members will be getting visitor passes that are free of cost. The students have also been asked to provide a list of their prospective employees and Messe Frankfurt Pakistan will arrange the meetings with them at Heimtextil.”
