KARACHI: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh on Sunday assured to provide the best facilities to the foreigners and overseas Pakistanis upon their arrival in the country.
Addressing a ceremony in connection with the International Customs Day, he praised the performance of Customs officials and highlighted the importance of their role in the national economy.
“It’s necessary to provide the best-ever facilities to the foreigners and overseas Pakistanis arriving in the country and that Customs officials will have to fulfill their responsibility while improving the impression of their institution.”
The adviser said the number of people visiting Pakistan had doubled in the last one and half years.
Pakistan Customs was the face of Pakistan and its role was extremely important to achieve national targets, he added.
The government had prioritised to promote global trade for economic uplift, Shaikh said, adding and the centre would also provide resources to Customs like other government institutions.
Separately, addressing the PSX Top 25 Companies Award, Hafeez Shaikh said the effective policies and economic reforms introduced by the Imran-led government were bearing fruit.
He further said the government had promoted a business-friendly environment and adopted effective measures to increase exports.
The adviser said the government didn’t obtain any loan from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) from the last six months, claiming the prices of petroleum products were not increased from the last five months.
He maintained that they (the government) would provide relief to the poor people despite budget constraints.
