Advisor to the Prime Minister (PM) on Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood on Friday said that the government is considering export of surgical masks and will allow export once more authentic data regarding their availability in the domestic market emerges.
“Export of surgical masks is under consideration and a meeting was held today at the Ministry of Commerce (MOC). Once more authentic data about availability of surgical masks is determined then exports will be allowed…,” the adviser to the PM said on Twitter.
He further urged the exporters to wait for a few more weeks until such data emerges so that the government can take an informed decision regarding export of surgical masks.

Responding to his tweet a large number of people urged Razak Dawood to first ensure that good quality surgical masks were available in the country before allowing export of such masks.
Instead or in addition to, exporting the first priority should be to have enough supply for the entire population of Pak.

Other exporters on Twitter, informed Razak Dawood of the interest shown in Pakistani manufactured tyvek suits by international buyers and urged him to allow export of such suits.
Please also considered tyvek suits exports. We are receiving great numbers of inquiries of tyvek suits for export.

Earlier in the week, the adviser to the PM had urged exporters to increase market reach across the globe and said that increasing geographical diversification is an important part of Pakistan’s strategic trade policy.
He announced that DG Khan Cement had acquired orders for the export of cement to the Philippines which he said was the result of the company’s success in China. Moreover, he also announced that Germany’s luxury fashion brand Hugo Boss had placed its first order of sportswear to a Pakistani company.
Earlier on July 3, the Adviser to the Prime Minister on commerce and investment had said that the government will diligently pursue the ‘Make in Pakistan’ policy and work towards rapid industrialisation aimed at enhancing exports and substituting imports.
He said that the government is following a three year plan according to which it will gradually remove duties and tariffs, particularly on raw materials, for the benefit of the industry.
He added that the government will have a special focus towards the engineering sector in order to boost exports of power equipment sector, auto sector, home appliances, mobile phones, sanitary ceramics ware, utensils, cutlery, pumps and motors.
On June 26, Abdul Razak Dawood, had also announced that Dawlance, a Pakistani-Turkish electronics company, was set to export microwave ovens from Pakistan for the first time in the country’s history.
