Top FBR officers grilled for not solving people’s complaints

ISLAMABAD: The Prime Minister Office has been visibly annoyed with 10 senior officers of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for not solving the complaints of people.

According to information available with this scribe, the senior officers’ whose performance remained below par included Customs (Policy) Member Dr Javed Ghani (who is now the FBR chairman), Customs Intelligence DG, Balochistan chief collector, Karachi IR chief commissioner, Islamabad chief collector, Karachi Customs DG, Customs (Operations) Member and Faisalabad IR chief commissioner.

Sources informed Profit that the tax department had submitted the performance report to the PM’s delivery unit, which forwarded the same to Prime Minister Imran Khan.

According to the report, Pakistan Citizen Portal had completed the scrutiny of 68 FBR officers, following which 10 senior officers were sent displeasure letters with a direction to improve their performance by solving the complaints of people.

The PM Office has warned of strict action if performance remains unsatisfactory, it added.
