ISLAMABAD: Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) on Tuesday on behalf of power distributing companies urged National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to increase electricity tariffs by Rs0.86 per unit for a period of one month.
The said increase was demanded keeping in mind the variations in cost of power generation.
Sources quoting CPPA’s plea said that the cost of electricity production had remained at Rs4.40 per unit in July while the reference fuel cost for the said month was Rs3.54 per unit.
Sources further said that NEPRA will hold a hearing on September 1, 2020 regarding Fuel Price Adjustment (FPA) adding that the proposed increase if approved would put additional burden on the masses.
