NA speaker assures business community of inclusion in decision-making process

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly (NA) Speaker Asad Qaiser on Tuesday lauded that business community for playing a constructive role in the country’s economic development, assuring the businessmen of inclusion in decision-making process so as to resolve their key issues.

Speaking at a ceremony organized by Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) former senior vice president Malik Sohail Hussain to honor the outgoing office bearers of the chamber, Qaiser said he would call FBR officials and other business-related entities to the NA standing committees to address major issues faced by the business community.

MNAs Sajida Zulfiqar and Munaza Hasan, Punjab Board of Investment Chairman Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan, newly-elected ICCI President Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan, Islamabad Mayor Sheikh Anser Aziz, former FPCCI presidents Abdul Rauf Alam and Ghazanfar Bilour, former ICCI presidents Khalid Javed, Tariq Sadiq, Ejaz Abbasi and Khalid Iqbal Malik, diplomats and large number of business community attended the dinner.

MNA Sajida Zulfiqar appreciated the good work done by outgoing ICCI president Muhammad Ahmed Waheed and his team during their tenure. She hoped that the incoming team of ICCI would achieve many new milestones for the business community.

Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan on the occasion briefed the participants about the potential investment opportunities in Punjab, saying that the business community should capitalize on them to achieve lucrative results.

Meanwhile, outgoing ICCI president Muhammad Ahmed Waheed highlighted the key achievements during his tenure.

He said that with untiring efforts, he got resolved some very old issues of business community from Capital Development Authority, FBR and other organizations. He hoped that his successor would carry forward his positive initiatives to serve the cause of business community.

In his address, newly-elected ICCI President Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan appreciated the achievements of his predecessor, saying that he would try to hold expos in Islamabad besides making efforts for new industrial estate in the city and organizing seminars for the benefit of business community.
