ISLAMABAD: The sale of motorbikes and three wheelers in the country witnessed an increase of 20.05pc in the first quarter (July-September) of the current financial year (2020-21) as compared to the corresponding period of last year.
As many as 448,736 motorbikes and three wheelers were sold in July-Sept FY21 as against the sale of 367,656 units in July-Sept FY20, according to data released by the Pakistan Automobile Manufacturing Association (PAMA).
The sale of Honda motorcycles grew by 22.49pc year-on-year to 288,005 units during the period under review as against 235,116 units in the same months of last year. On the other hand, the sale of Suzuki motorcycles dipped by 8.66pc YoY to 4,583 units (5,018 units last year), while that of Yamaha motorbikes decreased by 25.25pc to 4,643 units (6,212 units last year).
Among others, the sale of United Auto motorcycles went up from 81,012 units to 98,363 units (+21.41pc), while the sale of Road Prince motorcycles also increased by 24.20pc, from 29,399 units to 36,514 units.
Meanwhile, the sale of Road Prince three wheelers witnessed a jump of 92.87pc, from 1,628 units last year to 3,140 units in 1QFY21.
According to PAMA, the sale of Qingqi three wheelers surged 195.7pc, from 1,701 units to 5,030 units, while that of United Auto three wheelers rose 55.74pc, from 1,401 units to 2,182 units.
