Govt to conduct a third-party audit of fertilizer companies to determine production costs

ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Thursday announced that a third-party audit will be conducted to determine the production costs of fertilizer companies. This initiative aims to ensure transparency and fair pricing within the industry.

As per details, the directive was given by the Federal Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain during a Fertilizer Review Committee meeting, which was also attended by Federal Secretary for Industries and Production, Dr. Muhammad Fakhre Alam Irfan.

The meeting focused on reviewing the stock availability, demand, and prices of urea in the country. Rana Tanveer Hussain assured that there is no shortage of urea fertilizer in Pakistan. He highlighted that an uninterrupted supply of gas to fertilizer companies is being maintained to ensure smooth production.

The minister also instructed fertilizer companies to review the performance of their dealers and agencies. He directed provincial authorities to verify the legitimacy of fertilizer dealers and agencies, with any ghost dealers and agencies to be blacklisted.
