ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways has announced a 20 percent discount on tickets for all mail, express, passenger, and intercity trains during Eid-ul-Fitr 2025.
Additionally, five special Eid trains will be operated to accommodate travelers heading to their hometowns for the holiday.
Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi stated that the fare reduction will be applicable on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd day of Eid, ensuring maximum convenience and affordability for passengers. To further facilitate travel, Pakistan Railways Headquarters has already commenced bookings, with all divisions notified about the special arrangements.
The first special Eid train will depart from Karachi Cantt to Lahore on March 26, comprising 16 coaches and traveling via Hyderabad, Rohri, Multan, and Sahiwal. On the same day, a second special train will leave Quetta for Peshawar Cantt with 11 coaches, passing through Multan and Sahiwal.
The third special train will run on March 27, departing from Lahore to Karachi, while the fourth will leave Karachi City Station for Rawalpindi, passing through Faisalabad, Sargodha, and Lala Musa. The final special train will depart on March 28 from Karachi Cantt to Lahore, following a route via Multan and Faisalabad.
Each train will feature Economy Class, AC Business, and AC Standard Class coaches, allowing passengers to choose based on their comfort and budget. Minister Abbasi has directed Divisional Superintendents (DSs) to personally supervise departures and ensure seamless operations at key stations.
He warned that strict action would be taken against any negligence or misconduct.
In addition to the Eid initiative, Pakistan Railways is developing a comprehensive “Adoption Policy” aimed at modernizing trains running between Peshawar and Karachi. Under this plan, passenger coaches and station infrastructure will be upgraded to improve travel comfort and service quality.
The minister reaffirmed Pakistan Railways’ commitment to safe, reliable, and efficient transportation, emphasizing that these measures reflect the prime minister’s vision for public service and national development. The department is utilizing all available resources to ensure smooth Eid operations and will continue implementing passenger-friendly reforms in the future.
