Sindh cancels Eid holidays for transport officers

Sharjeel Inam Memon directs transport authorities to crack down on overcharging and ensure compliance with regulated fares

KARACHI: The Sindh government has cancelled the Eid holidays of Transport and Mass Transit Department officers to prevent transporters from overcharging passengers during Eid-ul-Fitr.

Officials will remain on duty across the province to strictly monitor fares and take action against violations.

Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, who also oversees the Transport and Mass Transit Department, emphasized that no passenger should pay more than the officially approved fare. He directed transport authorities to crack down on overcharging and ensure compliance with regulated fares.

Transport officers from the Sindh Transport Authority and Regional Transport Authorities (RTA/DRTA) will actively monitor fares, address complaints, and penalize violators. Special instructions have been issued for strict legal action against those exploiting passengers.

Memon urged the public to report any fare violations, assuring that the Sindh government is committed to fair travel costs and protecting citizens from exploitation during the festive period.
