Joint operation targets illegal gold mining in Kohat district

Authorities register 36 cases and arrest four suspects in crackdown on illegal gold mining.

A joint operation targeting illegal gold mining in the Rakh Topi and Rakh Saban areas of Kohat district was successfully carried out, as per the directives of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government. 

As per reports, the operation, involving the Forest Department, local administration, police, and the Minerals Department, resulted in the registration of 36 cases during 11 separate raids.

According to a spokesperson from the Forest Department, legal proceedings have been initiated against those involved in illegal mining activities. 

Four suspects have been arrested and presented before the court, where judicial remand has been granted. 

This operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal mining in the region and ensure the protection of natural resources.
