Pakistan allows 150 Afghan trucks to enter India through Wagah border

Move aims to strengthen ties with Afghanistan as part of a broader diplomatic effort

Pakistan has granted permission for 150 Afghan trucks to cross into India via the Wagah border. The decision followed a formal request from the Afghan Embassy in Islamabad, which had sought the release of Afghan trucks that were stranded in Pakistan due to a suspension in transit trade.

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that only those Afghan trucks that had entered Pakistan before April 25 would be allowed to continue their journey to India.

A detailed list of the 150 trucks has been shared with relevant authorities to ensure the smooth passage of goods across the border.

“This decision reflects the cordial and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan,” the Foreign Ministry stated in its response to the Afghan Embassy. The trucks had been held up at various checkpoints for several days due to restrictions placed on Afghan-India transit trade.

Additionally, the Foreign Office has requested Afghan authorities to provide details of any remaining stranded trucks that may require clearance, indicating that the situation could be reassessed as necessary.
