Human Rights Division gets no development funds for child, elderly care projects

The Human Rights Division has received no allocation under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for fiscal year 2026-27 after its funding request for a Child Protection Institute and Senior Citizen Home in Islamabad was rejected.

According to official documents, the division sought Rs200 million to begin and advance construction of the two facilities, which have a combined estimated cost of Rs1.634 billion under their PC-I documents.

The proposed projects were intended to expand protection and care services for vulnerable children and elderly residents in the federal capital.

However, the review committee declined the request during finalisation of the PSDP because of fiscal constraints and a reduction in the size of the federal development programme, according to sources.

The decision leaves the Human Rights Division without any development funding for FY27.

Without the proposed allocation, construction of the Child Protection Institute and Senior Citizen Home will not begin under the upcoming federal development programme.
