Govt allocates Rs63bn for parliamentarians’ development schemes despite PSDP cuts

The federal government has allocated Rs63 billion for development schemes of treasury-backed parliamentarians under the Sustainable Development Goals Achievement Program (SAP) in FY2026-27, despite reducing the overall Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) allocation.

According to the PSDP 2026-27 tabled in parliament, the SAP allocation has been maintained at Rs63 billion, matching the amount utilised in the outgoing fiscal year.

The allocation comes as the federal PSDP has been reduced from Rs1.126 trillion to Rs1 trillion.

The reduction follows an agreement under which provinces curtailed their annual development programmes and provided Rs920 billion to the federal government as grant-in-aid.
