President Donald Trump said Monday that he will keep using Starlink at the White House, even though his relationship with Elon Musk has ended.
However, he hinted that he may move his Tesla elsewhere.
“Starlink is a good service,” Trump told reporters. “I may move the Tesla around a little bit, but I don’t think we’ll be doing that with Starlink.”
The satellite internet company is owned by SpaceX, where Musk is also CEO.
Trump and Musk had been close allies until recently. In March, Trump revealed he had bought a red Tesla Model S from Musk. The car was seen parked at the White House over the weekend.
Last week, a White House official said Trump might get rid of Tesla after a public falling-out with Musk.
On Saturday, Trump said he had no interest in fixing the relationship. But on Monday, he softened his tone. “We had a good relationship, and I just wish him well,” Trump said.
“I would not have a problem if he called.” Musk reacted with a heart emoji to a video of Trump’s remarks posted on X.
The fallout began last Thursday after Musk called Trump’s tax and spending bill a “disgusting abomination.” The comment triggered a war of words between the two.
The disagreement has caused tension among Republicans in Congress, where they hold only narrow majorities and are trying to push Trump’s bill forward.
Musk has since deleted some posts critical of Trump, including one that appeared to support impeaching him.
