Apple receives 6 million rouble fine from Russian court for LGBT content violations

The court issues the fine in two civil cases, each resulting in a 3 million rouble penalty

Apple Inc. has been fined six million roubles ($76,510) by a Russian court for violating local laws related to what the government describes as “LGBT propaganda,” according to the state-run TASS news agency.

The court issued the fine on Tuesday in two civil cases, each resulting in a 3 million rouble penalty. The cases are part of a broader enforcement of rules passed in 2023 that expanded restrictions on the promotion of “non-traditional sexual relations” in Russia.

Last month, Apple was fined 7.5 million roubles for similar violations. The regulations are part of a policy push by President Vladimir Putin, who has said the aim is to protect traditional values.
