Nvidia CEO says quantum computing at a turning point

Jensen Huang says quantum computing is expected to solve problems that would take years for Nvidia's most advanced AI systems to handle

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said on Wednesday that quantum computing is reaching a turning point, with the technology expected to solve problems that would take years for Nvidia’s most advanced AI systems to process.

Speaking at the VivaTech conference in Paris, Huang said quantum computing will solve “some interesting problems” in the coming years.

His comments followed a similar message he shared in March during Nvidia’s annual software developer event, where he highlighted the potential of quantum systems.

That marked a shift from January, when Huang said useful quantum computers were still 20 years away.

In March, Nvidia also announced a new quantum computing research lab in Boston.

The lab will collaborate with scientists from Harvard and MIT.
