Etisalat CEO meets Ishaq Dar to discuss digital expansion in Pakistan

DPM says Pakistan’s digital economy is growing and the government works to create a supportive business environment

ISLAMABAD: Etisalat Group of the United Arab Emirates is looking to expand its investments in Pakistan’s ICT and telecom sectors, according to a statement from the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met with a delegation from Etisalat Group on Monday, led by Group CEO Hatem Dowidar. The meeting was also attended by the Minister for IT, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, National Coordinator of the Special Investment Facilitation Council, secretaries from the IT, commerce, and privatization ministries, and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, the deputy prime minister spoke about Pakistan’s expanding digital economy and the government’s efforts to create a supportive business environment.

Hatem Dowidar thanked the government for its continued support and confirmed Etisalat Group’s long-term interest in the Pakistani market. He expressed interest in helping the country meet its digital development and connectivity targets.
