ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar will lead the country’s delegation to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) meeting scheduled for July 14–16, 2025, in Tianjin, China.
The visit follows an invitation from Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
Foreign ministers from all SCO member states are expected to attend, including representatives from Pakistan, China, Belarus, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Belarus will participate in the CFM for the first time as a full member of the SCO.
The Council of Foreign Ministers is the third-highest decision-making body within the SCO framework. It reviews matters related to international relations and foreign and security policy among member states.
The CFM also finalizes draft declarations, statements, and other documents for presentation to the Council of Heads of State (CHS), which is scheduled for August 31 to September 1, 2025, also in Tianjin.
During the visit, the deputy prime minister is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts on the sidelines of the CFM session.
