Alibaba.com partners with Ignite to boost Pakistan SME digital exports

Alibaba.com, a global B2B e-commerce platform, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ignite – National Technology Fund under Pakistan’s Ministry of Information Technology & Telecommunication (MoITT) to support the country’s digital economy and enhance international opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups, according to a news report.

Under the agreement, Alibaba.com will organise online and offline promotional activities, including trade shows and a national online pavilion, provide targeted B2B e-commerce training, and offer AI-powered tools to selected SMEs and startups.

Ignite will facilitate the initiatives by identifying potential exporters, coordinating seminars in major cities, and promoting Alibaba.com-led programs across Pakistan.

The MoU was signed in Beijing during the 2nd Pakistan-China B2B Investment Conference by Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Minister of IT & Telecom, and Roger Luo, Head of South & Southeast Asia at Alibaba.com, in the presence of senior officials from both sides.

Shaza Fatima said the partnership is a key step to position Pakistan on the global e-commerce map. She noted that equipping SMEs and startups with advanced e-commerce tools and access to international markets will support export growth and strengthen Pakistan’s participation in global digital trade.

Roger Luo added that combining Alibaba.com’s platform, AI-driven tools, and training with government support can help SMEs scale, enhance export competitiveness, and establish sustainable digital trade channels.
