KP Govt notifies Rs40,000 minimum monthly wage for workers

Labour Department mandates equal pay across all industrial and commercial establishments, effective July 1, 2025

Peshawar:The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has officially notified the minimum monthly wage of Rs. 40,000 for workers employed in various factories across the province. According to the notification issued by the Labour Department, all industrial and commercial establishments shall ensure that no worker will be paid less than the government-fixed minimum wages. The notification specifies the minimum monthly wage  Rs. 40,000 and the daily wage Rs. 1,538.46 with effect from 1st July 2025.

The notification clarifies that employers in all industrial and commercial establishments shall pay their workers wages not less than the minimum wages as notified by the KP government.

Minimum wages shall not be considered as maximum rates, and no reduction shall be made where workers are already receiving higher wages. Employers shall, however, remain at liberty to pay higher wages either unilaterally or through collective agreements in view of higher grade, skill, experience, higher cost of living in a locality, or any other special reason.

The minimum wages for other categories of workers shall, in no case, be less than the notified minimum wages. Employers shall revise, where necessary, the rates of remuneration for piece-rated workers so as to ensure that by working eight (08) hours a day and twenty-six (26) days in a month, such workers receive wages not less than the prescribed minimum wages. Female and transgender workers shall receive the same minimum wages as male workers for work of equal value.
