ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Monday dismissed reports of any extension in the deadline for filing income tax returns for the tax year 2025, confirming that September 30 remains the final date.
In a statement, the FBR said it had taken notice of unverified reports circulating on media platforms about a possible extension.
The authority stated, “FBR categorically clarifies that these reports are false, baseless, and misleading as the deadline for filing income tax returns for tax year 2025 will not be extended.”
It said the IRIS system was fully operational and taxpayers could file returns using the new simplified income tax return form.
The FBR cautioned that those failing to file by the due date would face late-filer status and penalties under the law.
It said taxpayers facing extreme hardship could seek an extension of up to 15 days, provided due taxes are paid by September 30 and approval is granted by the relevant committee.
Last week, Salim Valimuhammad, Chairman of the Pakistan Chemical & Dyes Merchants Association (PCDMA), called for an extension of the deadline beyond September 30.
The FBR added that no changes had been introduced in the Income Tax Return Form-2025 through any SRO regarding declaration of the market value of assets.
