The National Logistics Corporation (NLC) has established a border terminal at Angoor Adda in South Waziristan, completing the project in 30 days, according to a press release.
The terminal was built despite the absence of roads, electricity, water, and communication systems, employing local construction workers and engineers.
The facility includes offices and accommodation for government agencies involved in cross-border trade, including Customs, FIA, and the Plant Protection Department.
Angoor Adda Border Terminal is equipped with weighbridges, container and truck yards, banking services, fiber-optic connectivity, and uninterrupted power supply via heavy-duty generators. Customs WeBOC and FIA’s IBMS systems are connected to the internet for real-time coordination. Plans to install a cargo scanner are underway.
The NLC stated that formalizing trade with Afghanistan through the terminal provides local tribes with a shorter route to export their produce and has provided 100% of jobs at the terminal to youth from local communities.
