Chery to start local assembly in Pakistan by 2026 with $150m investment

Automaker to roll out four hybrid SUV models from Port Qasim plant; 10 dealerships planned nationwide

Chery Master Pakistan will begin local assembly of vehicles in January 2026 at its $150 million manufacturing plant in the National Industrial Park, Port Qasim, Karachi. The facility covers more than 60 acres and is expected to employ over 2,000 workers trained in new energy vehicle (NEV) technologies. According to a report by Dawn News.

The company plans to introduce four models from Chery’s flagship range — the all-new Tiggo Cross, Tiggo 7, Tiggo 8, and Tiggo 9 — all equipped with plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) technology. Alongside production, Chery Master will establish a nationwide retail presence, with 10 dealerships opening across seven major cities in 2026.

Samir Malik, CEO of Master Auto Engineering, said the collaboration with Chery Automobile Ltd. represents a milestone for the domestic auto sector. “We are proud to collaborate with China’s leading export brand and look forward to introducing Chery’s Super Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) technology to Pakistani consumers through our New Energy Vehicle (NEV) plant,” he remarked at the launch ceremony.

He added that the initiative is aimed not only at producing vehicles but also at strengthening the local industry by generating employment and technical expertise: “This investment will help us train a workforce of over 2,000 in advanced NEV technologies.”

Chery Automobile, China’s top auto exporter, operates in more than 120 countries across Europe, South America, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Russia, and Australia.
