The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has imposed fines on several hotels, restaurants, and other businesses in Lahore, Gujranwala, and Multan for failing to issue sales tax invoices and for not using the Electronic Invoice Monitoring System (E-IMS).
A PRA spokesperson said that inspections were carried out at multiple locations to verify compliance with tax regulations. Businesses found not issuing sales tax invoices or neglecting to use the E-IMS were penalised, while several others received warning notices.
As part of its ongoing tax awareness campaign, the PRA is conducting activities across various cities to promote the proper issuance of tax invoices and the mandatory use of the E-IMS.
Separately, a meeting was held at the office of the Commissioner PRA Multan with representatives of the Marriage Halls and Marquees Association. Officials briefed the participants on E-IMS implementation, timely tax payments, and registration of new businesses.
The association assured cooperation with the PRA but highlighted that recent flooding had reduced business activity, affecting tax compliance in the region, the spokesperson added.
