PM Shehbaz invites Qatari investors to explore opportunities under SIFC framework

Shehbaz Sharif highlights trade, energy, IT and infrastructure as key areas of cooperation in meeting with Qatar’s Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al-Thani

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday invited Qatari investors to expand their presence in Pakistan by exploring new investment opportunities under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) framework.

During a meeting with Qatar’s Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al-Thani, the prime minister highlighted Pakistan’s investor-friendly environment and outlined sectors with strong potential for collaboration, including energy, agriculture, food security, information technology, tourism and infrastructure development.

Sheikh Faisal is in Islamabad to co-chair the sixth session of the Pakistan-Qatar Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC). The two sides discussed measures to enhance trade and investment flows between the two countries.

The prime minister expressed satisfaction with the growing momentum in bilateral relations, which he said were rooted in shared faith, mutual respect and longstanding cooperation. He also acknowledged Qatar’s role as a key economic partner and its diplomatic contributions as a regional mediator.

Conveying greetings from the Qatari leadership, Sheikh Faisal reaffirmed his country’s commitment to deepening economic ties with Pakistan. He said the JMC provided an effective platform to assess ongoing cooperation and identify new opportunities for joint ventures.

Prime Minister Shehbaz thanked Qatar for its continued support on regional and international matters and reiterated Pakistan’s desire to enhance collaboration in multilateral forums.

Both sides agreed to maintain close coordination to turn shared commitments into concrete outcomes, including stronger business-to-business engagement and facilitation of new investment projects.
