Pakistan’s mobile phone production jumps 55% MoM to 3.01 million units in September 2025

Mobile phone production in Pakistan saw a significant 55% month-on-month (MoM) increase in September 2025, reaching 3.01 million units, according to data from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). The figure also represented a 40% year-on-year (YoY) rise, rebounding from a low base last year, as reported by Topline Research.

The YoY growth was attributed to subdued sales in September 2024, following pre-buying activities before the budget changes in June. The sharp MoM increase was fueled by pent-up demand, with consumers delaying purchases ahead of new model releases.

Major mobile brands, including Samsung, Xiaomi, and Infinix, launched new models in September—such as the Galaxy S25 FE, Redmi 15 series, and Infinix Note 40X 5G—stimulating replacement and upgrade sales, according to Sania Irfan, an analyst at Topline Research.

For the first nine months of 2025, locally manufactured and assembled mobile phones totaled 22.78 million units, reflecting a slight 1% increase compared to the previous year. Of this total, 48% (10.86 million units) were 2G phones, while 52% (11.92 million units) were smartphones.

Domestic manufacturing has been responsible for 94% of the country’s total mobile phone demand, signaling significant progress toward self-reliance. Looking ahead, mobile phone sales are expected to grow by 7-8% YoY over the next 12 months, supported by a stable rupee, easing inflation, and improving consumer purchasing power, according to Irfan.
