Pakistan Customs at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport successfully thwarted two drug smuggling attempts, preventing illicit narcotics worth Rs. 114 million from entering the country, according to a press release issued by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
In the first case, Customs officers intercepted a parcel containing 1.69 kilograms of marijuana valued at Rs. 52 million. The parcel, declared as ‘Amulets,’ had arrived from Thailand.Â
In a separate case, officials seized 1,945 MDMA (Ecstasy) pills worth Rs. 62 million from a parcel declared as a ‘Vacuum Cleaner’ that came from Belgium.
The surge in global e-commerce has led to an increase in the volume of goods crossing borders, and with this growth, criminal networks are increasingly attempting to exploit international mail systems for drug trafficking.Â
Pakistan Customs officials continue to demonstrate vigilance, with successful interceptions preventing dangerous substances from reaching communities.
