The Enforcement Collectorate in Karachi seized 25 kilograms of silver, valued at approximately Rs12 million, from a passenger bus intercepted at Mochko Check Post on Tuesday.
Acting on credible intelligence, officers from the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) stopped the bus, which was traveling from Gwadar. During a detailed inspection, silver bars weighing 25 kilograms were found in the luggage of a passenger, who failed to provide any legal documents of import or purchase, confirming the illegal nature of the consignment.
The seized silver has been confiscated under the Customs Act of 1969, and the passenger has been detained. Authorities have launched an investigation to trace the source, route, and intended recipients of the smuggled goods, as well as any individuals involved in the operation.
A spokesperson for the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) emphasized that such enforcement actions would continue vigorously to combat smuggling and ensure compliance with customs laws at all checkpoints and entry points.
