The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has recovered an additional Rs200 million in cash during two separate raids at the Abbottabad residence of Qaiser Iqbal, the alleged mastermind in the Rs40 billion Kohistan corruption case.
According to NAB officials, Rs100 million was seized in each operation, bringing the total recovery from the accused’s property to Rs1.8 billion.
Earlier, Rs1.6 billion in cash was found hidden inside paint cans, a location revealed by Iqbal’s arrested wife during interrogation.
As per reports, Iqbal, who served in the Communication and Works (C&W) Department of Upper Kohistan from August 2013, allegedly prepared and submitted forged documents to facilitate the illegal withdrawal of public funds.
NAB said the suspect initially worked as a clerk and was later promoted to head clerk, a position he reportedly used to orchestrate the embezzlement scheme.
Investigations are ongoing to trace additional assets and collaborators linked to the large-scale financial irregularities.
