FBR warns customs officers against unauthorised use of social media

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has warned that action will be taken against customs officers and officials found using social media platforms without prior approval from the competent authority.

In a recent notification, the FBR said it had observed with concern that officers and officials in customs field formations were using social media in violation of prescribed rules.

The board stated that unauthorised use of social media by government servants amounts to misconduct under the Government Servants (Conduct) Rules, 1964.

The FBR directed all field formations to strictly comply with office memorandums issued by the Establishment Division regarding the use of social media by government employees, and to ensure adherence to the approved procedures.
