Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said Pakistan is committed to enhancing economic cooperation with the European Union, with a focus on expanding bilateral trade under the GSP Plus framework and broadening collaboration in investment, development and other areas of mutual interest.
Shehbaz made the remarks during a meeting with Raimundas Karoblis, the EU Ambassador to Pakistan, who assumed his post a few months ago. The discussion reviewed the current state of Pakistan-EU relations and reaffirmed both sides’ commitment to sustained engagement across trade, investment, security, migration and climate change.
“Welcoming the EU Ambassador, who assumed his responsibilities in Pakistan only a few months ago, the PM reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthen cooperation with the EU in all areas of mutual interest, particularly trade, investment, development, security, migration and climate change,” the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said.
The prime minister expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of the 7th Pakistan-EU Strategic Dialogue held in Brussels in November last year, where the Pakistani delegation was led by Deputy Prime Minister & Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
Karoblis thanked the prime minister for the reception he received in Pakistan and confirmed that the EU aims to continue working with Pakistan to strengthen relations in all spheres. He conveyed the good wishes of EU leadership and noted plans for increased engagement on trade promotion, including the first-ever EU-Pakistan Business Forum scheduled for April this year.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close coordination and constructive dialogue to support economic cooperation and shared prosperity.
