SBP reserves inch up to $16.10bn as Pakistan’s FX position holds steady

Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves posted a modest improvement during the week ending January 23, 2026, as holdings with the State Bank of Pakistan climbed by $13 million to $16.10 billion, official data released on Thursday showed.

With this increase, the country’s total liquid foreign reserves reached $21.29 billion. Of this amount, net foreign reserves held by commercial banks stood at $5.19 billion, while the central bank accounted for the remaining $16.10 billion.

In a statement, the SBP confirmed that its foreign exchange reserves rose to $16,101.1 million during the week under review, marking another incremental gain.

The latest figures extend a pattern of marginal weekly increases observed in recent weeks, pointing to a broadly stable external account position despite ongoing economic pressures.
