USC, workers' union agree on Rs25.5 billion compensation package under PM's directive

The management of the Utility Stores Corporation (USC) and the workers' union reached an agreement on a compensation package of Rs25.5 billion following the direction of the prime minister. The agreement was formalised in a meeting chaired by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) for Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan.

A severance and compensation agreement was signed between the USC and the National Workers Union. The total package includes a severance and compensatory package worth Rs19.5 billion, which will be implemented in three phases. In the first phase, 40% of the amount will be disbursed, with 30% in the second and third phases.

Under the package, the government will provide financial protection to affected employees and their families. Payments have already begun, with a commitment from the government to ensure the timely and transparent disbursement of funds.

Additionally, the package includes annual increments for 2024 and 2025. The majority of employees have voluntarily accepted the package, reflecting trust in the government’s commitment to worker welfare.

SAPM Haroon Akhtar Khan reiterated the government's commitment to protecting workers’ rights, emphasising that their financial security is a top priority in line with the prime minister’s vision.
