Govt Appoints Ms Amina Ahmed as NEPRA Member (Tariff & Finance) for Three Years
Appointment considered significant in shaping NEPRA’s regulatory decisions

The Establishment Division on Wednesday issued a formal notification announcing the appointment of Ms. Amina Ahmed as Member (Tariff and Finance) of the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), a key position responsible for overseeing tariff-related and financial regulatory matters in Pakistan’s power sector.
According to the notification dated February 5, 2026, the federal government has been pleased to appoint Ms. Amina Ahmed as Member (Tariff and Finance) in NEPRA under the Cabinet Division, in accordance with Section 3 (2) (a) (ii) of the Regulation of Generation, Transmission and Distribution of Electric Power Act, 1997.
The notification stated that Ms. Amina Ahmed has been appointed for a period of three years, with effect from February 6, 2026, and will continue to serve until further orders.
The appointment is considered significant as the Member (Tariff and Finance) holds a crucial role in shaping NEPRA’s regulatory decisions, particularly in matters related to electricity tariff determinations, financial oversight, and broader policy implications affecting consumers, power distribution companies, and the national exchequer.
The notification further revealed that copies of the official order have been forwarded to several important offices and stakeholders, including the Advisor to the Prime Minister, Prime Minister’s Office, the Secretary to the President, President’s Secretariat, Secretary Cabinet Division, Secretary Establishment Division, and the Chairman NEPRA, among others.
The development comes at a time when NEPRA’s decisions on power tariffs and financial adjustments remain central to the government’s broader efforts to manage rising electricity costs and address the ongoing challenges of the power sector.
