Pakistan takes over presidency of Digital Cooperation Organization in Kuwait
Country to lead multilateral digital forum with focus on cooperation in AI, data governance, cybersecurity

Pakistan assumed the presidency of the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) Council on Thursday, taking over the leadership role from Kuwait at the 5th General Assembly session held in Amman/Kuwait.
Speaking at the assembly, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, said Pakistan stands committed “to ensure that digital cooperation delivers inclusive growth and shared prosperity for all” and reaffirmed the country’s support for the DCO’s mandate.
She outlined Pakistan’s agenda to strengthen collaboration on digital priorities, including information technology cooperation, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and digital education, and to advance a secure digital ecosystem under its leadership.
The DCO is a multilateral organization launched in November 2020 by Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait and Pakistan to promote global digital cooperation, inclusive digital economy growth, and shared technology governance.
Pakistan was among the founding members and previously hosted the DCO’s Digital Foreign Direct Investment Forum in 2025. As president, it will help guide the forum’s 2025–2028 agenda aimed at accelerating shared digital goals among member states.
Khawaja said Pakistan will focus on policies that support digital skills development, data governance frameworks and cross‑border cooperation on emerging technologies, and stressed the need to build trust around data and AI adoption globally.
The forum brings together ministers, policymakers, private sector leaders and innovators from member countries to discuss priorities such as digital infrastructure, AI readiness and cyber threat management.
