Pakistan, Saudi Arabia discuss investment pipeline, tech talent collaboration at AlUla conference

Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb on Sunday met Faisal bin Fadhil Alibrahim, Minister of Economy and Planning of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to discuss Saudi investments in Pakistan and collaboration on technology and human capital.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the AlUla Conference for Emerging Market Economies 2026 in Saudi Arabia, according to an official statement.

Both sides reviewed follow-up matters related to Saudi investment commitments in Pakistan and broader bilateral economic cooperation. The Saudi minister highlighted Pakistan’s technology and artificial intelligence talent, noting that the country ranks among the leading global producers of skilled tech professionals.

He said Saudi Arabia is interested in leveraging Pakistani tech talent to support its ongoing technological transformation. In this context, he also referred to similar acknowledgements by global technology leaders regarding the quality of Pakistan’s human capital.

Aurangzeb said Pakistan is working on developing a structured pipeline of skilled human resources for key international markets, including Saudi Arabia, aimed at generating economic benefits for both countries.

The Saudi minister also shared updates on progress related to the Gulf Cooperation Council free trade agreement and emphasised the importance of expanding trade and exchanges with Pakistan.

Aurangzeb assured that dedicated teams from Pakistan are actively engaged in advancing discussions to finalise Saudi investment commitments. He also thanked the Saudi government for hosting the conference and expressed appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s continued engagement with Pakistan’s economy.
