Pakistan weekly inflation falls 0.59% as food prices ease
SPI rises 4.26% year-on-year, with tomatoes, wheat flour and gas charges among biggest annual gainers.

Pakistan’s weekly inflation eased during the week ended February 12, 2026, driven by declines in key food items, official data showed on Friday.
The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the combined consumption group fell by 0.59% week-on-week to 331.81 points, compared with 333.79 points a week earlier, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). On a year-on-year basis, the SPI increased by 4.26%.
The index declined across all income groups, with the lowest consumption group (up to Rs 17,732) falling by 0.62% to 322.23 points. Other consumption brackets recorded weekly declines of 0.62%, 0.59%, 0.62%, and 0.58%, respectively.
Of the 51 monitored items, 15 items rose in price, 15 declined, and 21 remained unchanged during the week.
Major weekly price declines were recorded in eggs (17.61%), tomatoes (12.02%), chicken (6.34%), onions (2.73%), potatoes (2.49%), salt powder (1.69%), LPG (1.57%), wheat flour (1.31%) and sugar (1.12%).
Weekly price increases were observed in bananas (7.62%), garlic (4.35%), pulse mash (2.69%), chilies powder (1.68%), mutton (0.80%), beef (0.37%), mustard oil (0.34%), shirting (0.31%) and cigarettes (0.24%), along with smaller gains in vegetable ghee, georgette and lawn printed fabric.
On an annual basis, major price increases were seen in tomatoes (73.36%), wheat flour (33.82%), gas charges for Q1 (29.85%), chilies powder (15.20%), beef (12.70%), eggs (11.76%), bananas (11.67%), firewood (11.40%), LPG (10.73%), powdered milk (9.89%), shirting (8.82%) and gur (8.81%).
Year-on-year price declines were recorded in potatoes (44.68%), garlic (30.78%), pulse gram (23.81%), onions (22.04%), chicken (20.13%), tea (13.95%), salt powder (12.52%), pulse masoor (10.88%) and petrol (1.33%).
