Engro Energy reduces stake in Engro Powergen Qadirpur by 18.53%, maintains control

Engro Energy Limited (EEL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Engro Holdings Limited, has reduced its equity stake in Engro Powergen Qadirpur Limited (EPQL) by 18.53%, according to a disclosure filed with the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on February 17, 2026. This move brings Engro Holdings' controlling interest in EPQL down to 50.36%.

The transaction, which took place on February 16, 2026, saw EEL sell 60 million shares of EPQL at a rate of Rs25 per share, coming to a total of Rs1.5 billion, effectively reducing its ownership in the power generation subsidiary from 68.89% to the newly reported 50.36%.

Despite this reduction in shareholding, Engro Energy remains the majority shareholder, retaining control over EPQL’s operations.

The disclosure was made to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), with the transfer of shares conducted in compliance with regulatory requirements. The announcement was signed off by Faizan Tariq, Company Secretary of Engro Energy Limited.
