KP to finalise Rs1 trillion Roshan Qabail Package this month, CM sets governance deadlines

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi has directed authorities to finalise the Rs1,000 billion Roshan Qabail Package within the current month and make it operational to speed up development in the merged districts of the former Federally Administered Tribal Areas.

Presiding over a review meeting on the provincial Good Governance Roadmap on Thursday, the chief minister ordered all departments to immediately begin preparations for the next fiscal year budget and directed that the Provincial Development Working Party meet weekly to accelerate approval and implementation of development schemes.

He said the government’s primary objective is to align service delivery with public needs and warned that delays or negligence in implementing the roadmap would not be tolerated. Afridi directed that all mid term measures under the governance framework be completed by June this year using results oriented and innovative approaches.

Officials told the meeting that 327 interventions have been identified across 17 provincial departments, with 47 completed and 139 progressing on schedule. They said 268 milestones have been set under the roadmap, with 90 completed and only three currently off track.

In the health sector, Afridi directed that recruitment of contract doctors in government hospitals be completed by 5 March and ordered the launch of mammography services in district headquarters hospitals in southern districts and regional DHQs elsewhere. He also ordered urgent restoration of non functional and damaged tube wells across the province.

In education, he instructed authorities to raise teachers’ attendance in government schools from 90 percent to 100 percent through an effective monitoring mechanism. He also ordered faster construction on the Kumrat and Hangu Sarozei roads and enhanced security for anti polio teams to ensure uninterrupted vaccination drives.

Afridi also ordered preparations for what he said should be the province’s largest spring tree plantation campaign, calling for participation from government employees, students and civil society, with fruit bearing plants to be prioritised in government offices and official residences.

He reiterated that the Ehsaas Apna Ghar Program reflects the vision of former prime minister Imran Khan and directed that the housing project be completed on a fast track basis to provide homes to deserving families.

The chief minister said good governance, transparency and effective service delivery remain top priorities and urged departments to work collectively to meet reform targets.
