NAB recovers 350 acres in Clifton worth Rs423.5bn
Sea-bed land restored to Sindh after probe into alleged illegal allotments by senior officials

The National Accountability Bureau has retrieved 350 acres of prime state land in Karachi, with an estimated market value of Rs423.5 billion, following an investigation into alleged illegal allotments.
According to officials, the land is located in Clifton’s Block I and Block II and was reclaimed from the sea-bed. The property has now been restored to the Government of Sindh after cancellation of the disputed allotments.
The recovery followed an inquiry and subsequent investigation by NAB against senior officers of the Land Utilization Department of the Government of Sindh, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and the Karachi Development Authority.
The probe examined the allotment of 350 acres of reclaimed land to private parties. Investigators found that rules and legal requirements had been violated and that the land had been allotted at nominal rates, resulting in financial loss to the national exchequer.
During formal proceedings, NAB Karachi secured the cancellation of all illegal allotments. The land has since been formally handed back to the Sindh government, with the restoration acknowledged by the Land Utilization Department.
The bureau stated that the operation was carried out in coordination with the Board of Revenue, Sindh. It added that timely intervention prevented the land from being sold or further encumbered, thereby averting potential financial loss.
NAB said it remains committed to pursuing cases involving misuse of public resources under its accountability mandate.
