Rs11 trillion secured through reclamation of 4.85 million acres of govt land, Rs213 billion returned to 129,000 fraud victims, assets worth Rs85.4 billion frozen in anti-money laundering actions

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) informed the Senate Standing Committee on Law and Justice that it recovered Rs11.5 trillion over the past three years, according to its report on recoveries and reforms.
The report stated that Rs11 trillion was secured through the reclamation of 4.85 million acres of government land. In addition, Rs213 billion was returned to over 129,000 victims of housing society fraud, while assets worth Rs85.4 billion were frozen in anti-money laundering actions.
NAB reported that for every rupee spent on the institution, Rs629 was recovered. It also highlighted operational constraints, including restrictions on pursuing cases involving amounts below Rs500 million.
The report noted that only 16 out of 23 accountability courts are currently functional, while the remaining courts are not operational. It added that cases take an average of six years to reach a decision.
In 2025, conviction rate stood at 58%, while 42% of cases resulted in acquittals.
Separately, NAB said it reduced expenditure by eliminating 238 positions, returning Rs660 million to the national budget.
