PIA suspends Fujairah flights, limits UAE routes as Gulf tensions disrupt air travel

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has suspended flights to Fujairah for 48 hours and restricted its UAE operations to Al Ain as escalating tensions in the Middle East disrupt regional air travel.

The airline said it is monitoring the situation and may make further adjustments, advising passengers to check flight schedules regularly and stay in contact with carriers.

The changes come amid widespread disruptions across Pakistan’s aviation network, with at least 92 inbound and outbound flights cancelled on Wednesday.

Islamabad International Airport recorded the highest number of cancellations at 28, followed by Karachi with 20 and Lahore with 18 flights suspended on routes to destinations including Dubai, Doha, Bahrain and Kuwait.

Peshawar Airport reported 16 cancellations, while Multan and Sialkot saw four and six flights cancelled respectively. Operations at Faisalabad Airport remained unaffected.

The disruptions have affected key international routes connecting Pakistan with the Gulf, reflecting the immediate impact of regional instability on aviation operations.

Airlines have begun adjusting flight paths and schedules as tensions affect airspace across the region, a major transit corridor linking Europe, Asia and Africa.
