FBR chief orders fast-track resolution of Karachi business complaints
Langrial assures timely processing of legitimate tax refunds, reiterates strict action against corruption within tax machinery

Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue, Rashid Mahmood Langrial, on Thursday directed tax and customs officials in Karachi to expedite the resolution of business-related complaints raised by the city’s business community.
The directives were issued during his visit to the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where representatives presented a detailed briefing on key tax and trade issues affecting local enterprises.
Business leaders highlighted delays in tax refund processing, challenges linked to super tax installment payments, and procedural bottlenecks that have been putting pressure on business liquidity and daily operations.
In response, the FBR chief instructed the Chief Commissioner of the Large Taxpayer Office (LTO) Karachi and the Chief Collector Customs Appraisement (South) to prioritise and accelerate resolution of the identified issues, while assigning Inland Revenue Service and Customs officials to conduct a comprehensive review.
He assured the business community that all legitimate tax refund claims would be processed efficiently, subject to compliance with due process and codal requirements.
The chairman also reaffirmed that tax collection would continue strictly in accordance with the law and reiterated the authority’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption, warning that any official found involved in misconduct or creating unnecessary hurdles for taxpayers would face strict disciplinary action.
He further urged business representatives to report instances of corruption within the tax system, supported by credible evidence, to enable prompt action.
