March 27, 2026

In a move aimed at strengthening fiscal discipline, the Punjab government has decided to abolish board fees for members of government, semi-government, and autonomous institutions.
Sources confirmed that no remuneration will be provided to either government-appointed or private members serving on boards of directors, governing bodies, statutory organizations, semi-autonomous and autonomous entities, or special institutions under provincial control.
The directive specifically includes members of the Bank of Punjab and the Punjab Provincial Cooperative Bank Limited, ensuring that attendance at board meetings will no longer carry any monetary compensation.
Officials described the measure as part of the government’s ongoing austerity drive, emphasizing cost-saving across public sector governance structures while maintaining institutional oversight and decision-making responsibilities.
