Lucky Motor signs exclusive deal with China’s GAC to bring EVs to Pakistan

Lucky Motor Corporation (LMC), part of the Lucky Group, has signed an exclusive partnership agreement with China’s Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd. (GAC), according to a company announcement.

The agreement gives LMC rights to introduce GAC’s new energy vehicle (NEV) brands, including Aion and Hyptec, in Pakistan. The development was disclosed by Lucky Group chairman Muhammad Ali Tabba.

No timeline, pricing, or model lineup has been announced so far. The company said further details on commercial rollout, product portfolio, and dealership expansion will be shared later.

GAC is a Chinese state-owned automaker with joint ventures producing Toyota and Honda vehicles in China, alongside its own electric vehicle brands. The company has also invested in battery development and related technologies.

For LMC, the deal adds a Chinese partner to its existing lineup, which includes Kia and Peugeot. The company assembles vehicles locally and has been expanding its portfolio amid gradual policy support for hybrid and electric vehicles in Pakistan.

The partnership comes as several automakers explore entry into Pakistan’s EV segment, where demand remains limited but is expected to grow alongside incentives and fuel cost pressures.

It remains unclear how quickly GAC-branded vehicles will enter the market or whether local assembly will be part of the plan.
