LPG prices in Lahore cross Rs450 per kg despite official cap of Rs304

Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is being sold at significantly higher rates than the official price set by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority, with market prices crossing Rs450 per kilogram in several cities.

In Lahore and other areas, LPG prices range between Rs450 and Rs470 per kg, compared to the notified rate of Rs304.28 per kg, resulting in an overcharge of up to Rs146 per kg.

Industry estimates suggest that over 6,000 metric tonnes of LPG are sold daily in Pakistan, indicating the scale of the price gap between official and market rates.

Retailers have attributed the increase to higher supply costs, stating that LPG marketing companies are providing the commodity at elevated prices. Some vendors said they are unable to sell at the official rate due to higher purchase costs.

Consumers said the increase has added to financial pressure amid broader inflation. Transport workers and daily wage earners reported difficulties in managing basic expenses due to rising fuel and living costs.
