Balochistan caps Iranian petrol at Rs280 per litre amid overcharging concerns

The Balochistan government on Saturday announced that Iranian petrol will be sold at a fixed rate of Rs280 per litre, taking aim at traders who had raised prices to Rs300–360 per litre after federal fuel hikes.

The directive came during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, which also ordered that the fuel must remain within Balochistan and cannot be transported out of the province.

Kalat Deputy Commissioner Munir Ahmed Durrani said authorities would conduct strict checks and take legal action against anyone found selling Iranian petrol above the provincial ceiling, noting there is no justification for charging the higher federal rates for imported petroleum.

The move aims to stabilize local fuel prices and protect consumers from exploitation amid surging energy costs.
